On Strike

Unfortunately, We are now into the 2nd day of a strike here in Ontario Colleges, there has been no agreement reached and as a result I have been locked out. As a matter of principle, I am pro-union and I am for their right to strike. However, I believe that teachers have no right to do it during a school year and it is wrong for them to walk out on the students that are also paying their salaries.

I am hoping this is resolved quickly because I want to get back to school.

Being pro-union, what is your take on the union blatantly lying about what the strike is really about?

The union is striking because it wants more money. (smaller classes + no increased workload = more teachers) = higher union dues.

If the union really wanted to stick up for the students, they would firght for lower tuition fees, more scholarships, etc.

There's a teachers strike building at UPEI too; strike vote due on the 14th.

Yeah, a strike during holidays would have a great effect. Take away the ability to strike during work and you might as well send them to soup kitchens.
