The New Conservative/NDP Attack Lines

I just read this, and I almost fell out of my chair laughing at how pathetic the Conservative and NDP attempts to discredit Dion are.

According to that Wisdom-Lover that is John Baird

He's one of those ... Cabinet ministers from Quebec who sat through the sponsorship scandal and claimed not to know a thing that went on while millions of dollars were stolen

John please, really, who in God's name is going to believe Dion was in anyway involved in the Sponsorship Scandal, this is just a desperate attempt to throw anything and see if it sticks. Mr. Dion was in Government, of course, but who honestly is going to believe other then Hardcore Tory Partisans that Dion actually had something to do with the Sponsorship scandal? Is Mr. Baird actually serious about this? Is there an assumption that if your from Quebec and you were a cabinet minister in Quebec during that time your a crook? This attack just won't fly and if this is seriously the best the Tories can come up with at the moment, they are really in trouble.

Next, I want to turn to the baseless and rediculous attempt by those bastions of integrity, the NDP. I want to tell you that I just want to say I used to have a lot of respect for Jack Layton before he just completely lost his mind. The NDP today is a party that is so out of touch with Canada's priorities, they do nothing but scream, shout and protest, but they really don't have any agenda except to throw softball questions to Cabinet Ministers.

So this is what the NDP said

Stephane Dion is an out of touch academic who spent 10 years in a scandal-ridden cabinet.

....

Can I actually dignify this attack with a response? I'm pretty much speechless, really this attack just doesn't hold any water. You know what I'm just going to say that I'm not even going to dignify this drivel with a response if Mr. Layton wants to actually talk about the issues then fine I'll disprove him but this stupid baseless attack just isn't worth my time.

These are pretty ridiculous. The Conservative site tries to paint him as a centralist, while the NDP site tries to paint him as a decentralist.

thats exactly the point, none of the liberal mp's, where involved in the scandal, right? According to the gomery report...But it stuck in 2 election, so it will certainly stick with dion, since he was there....so pickin dion was a bad move on a multitude of bad choices made by a few delegates for the membership....i am a liberal, would never vote anywhere else, but I will stay out of the next one......the other eason is kenedy, the hipocrite, he said, new way or doing things, a new begining, buuuut, he makes back room deals and support the only one who was with the previous liberal government, and the only one of the last 3 who was unelectable, west of ontatio, and in quebec....

I think that Dion is too honest a person to have ever even heard of any wrongdoing while he was there, without bringing it up.
How hard up are the Tories and NDP ? ...both sinking very low.

So am I suppose to suddenly believe the Liberals are going to do something about the environment, when they let emmisions rise over the past 13 years? I'm not stupid.

I'm still voting NDP. Congratulations to Stephane Dion though, I think he will bring or atleast try to bring order back to Canadian Politics. Right now it's just going down the shitter.

Honestly, I can't understand DIon's English - its pretty bad, worse than chretiens I'm afraid.

This will not help him in the west or in Atlantic Canada. He desperately needs a voice coach. Politics is as much about personal appeal as it is about substance. I dont' think many would disagree with Dion's performance or his integrity, but the guy is as boring has Harper - and that is scary. If a leader cannot inspire people to get out and vote, they will lose. Harper has frothing right wing nutbars that show up on election day, Dion has to find the ingredient that gets voters to do the same thing. Broken unintelligible english, and a milquetoast personality won't cut it. He needs to get a set of balls pretty damn quick.

As usual the liberal party shoots itself in the foot.

Since you didn't bother to link to the NDP site which you are quoting here is what Jack actually said.

"I want to congratulate Stéphane Dion on his election as the new leader of the Liberal Party. I am looking forward to debating with him and getting to work on the issues that are important to today’s families.

“Public service is a noble calling. All who are willing to dedicate their lives to serving Canada should be congratulated.”

That is a damn polite non-partisan statement. Get yer facts straight if you are going to slander someone for your own partisan political purposes
